A quick Inteweb trawl has revealed that the history of the place is all a bit hush-hush. It was designed as a holiday destination for the rich in the 70s/80s, but a load of people died whilst it was being built and they may or may not be running around the Plan 9-style pods haunting it and generally making a nuisance of themselves.  No one seems to want to talk about it, so it must be 100% pure factoid. Either way, it looks pretty awesome.

It’s a bit of a tourist attraction now, but you’d have to give me a bucketload of gold to stay the night there alone with some weird Taiwanese spectres.

Luckily there are a load of photos on Flickr to look at instead from the comfort of my newly-built, entirely not-creepy office.

This is the second biggest aquarium in the world. God-only knows how big the largest one is (unless some smart-arse is claiming that the Pacific Ocean is in fact ‘a giant aquarium’). Either way, the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Japan is so big that it has several whale sharks and loads of enormous rays casually swimming around in it. WHALE SHARKS FOR CHRISTSSAKE. They’re fucking enormous.

The film is very simple and graceful, and it is medically impossible to get angry, sad or stressed whilst watching it. I tried. It simply cannot be done.

Just in case you were wondering, this is the world’s largest fishbowl. But it doesn’t have a pretty film about it so I don’t like it as much.

Take this dude for instance. Apparently he’s becoming a bit of a celeb, and whilst he’s not enough to make me choose that airline over another one, it at least helps making flying in cattle class vaguely enjoyable for a couple of minutes. Until some fat ape sits next to you and nicks the armrest.
