Not as much fun as Glastonbudget 2009, but if you do have to spend a long weekend in a field in Leicestershire, then I doubt there are any better things you could be doing.

Billed as a music festival, it’s basically a bunch of incredibly bright tents which you wander around inside whilst listening to some godawful free-form saxophone noodling. After a while you become completely disorientated and all you can see are dazzling primary colours and the odd child running around in search of some Ritalin. And it’s a pretty amazing experience.

My third and (I assume) final festival of the year. Completely different vibe to Rock Werchter, and a pretty awesome way to kiss goodbye to my 20s.

Bestival was cracking stuff, Gromit, and a great way to spend my 30th birthday. In no particular order…

Highlights:

• Dancing for 2 hours non-stop to Jazzie B’s hiphop DJ set. I busted many, many whiteboy shapes.
  
• Little Boots (surprisingly good live)
• Burlesque high-tea party
• Cuban Brothers (awesome)
• The Klaxons doing their “ooh-ee-ooh-ee-ooh…aaaahhh” song
• Kraftwerk doing Autobahn and she’s a model (awesome)
• Soulwax were pretty good
• MGMT weren’t bad at all – but they had a few annoying sound issues
• La Roux (although her voice could wake the dead)
• VV brown appearing in an outfit which made her head look like it was appearing out of a particularly large vagina
• Goldie Lookin Chain
• Lily Allen wearing very little and singing very well
• Meeting Max and OB from Hollyoaks
• Tinchy Strider doing a ‘number one’. He is fucking microscopic.
• Watching one of the Cuban Brothers strip off, get into a rocket ship and then go up in a massive ball of flames, before everything went a bit Wicker Man and turned into a Pagan festival.
• The whole of fancy dress day on Saturday – dressing like Marvin the Martian with a face that wouldn’t have looked out of place in a Minstrel show on the last day of my 20s…
• Not watching Fleet Foxes
• Avoiding Mr Hudson

Lowlights:

• Didn’t get a chance to bottle Seastick Steve as he was out of range
• Bat for lashes is very average
• Mika. What a cunt.
• Doves (b-o-r-i-n-g)
• Massive Attack (of the yawns)
• Carl Cox. There’s only so much house music I can put up with.
• Underground rebel bingo was brief but fun. Although it’s basically like playing Bingo whilst reading the Profanisaurus.
• Little bit disappointed by DJ Yoda. He was really good in parts, but boring in others.
• Sound cut out several times on the main stages and they kept fucking up the video screens.

Film that I shot on a Kodak Zi6 and a Sony Cybershot at the mighty Glastonbudget festival a couple of weekends ago. Bearing in mind that at no point was I sober when in control of either camera, I was quite pleased with the end result, although I think the folk at Cannes may be safe for another year…
