There’s something intrinsically cool about the NES.

Maybe it’s because it came from a time when games had to be playable first and look good second. And even though I never actually owned one, I’ve always been a Nintendo true-blood.

I’ve gone from Gameboy to SNES to N64 to Gamecube to Wii, with never so much as a minuscule hint of a Sega or a Sony to sully the Wario waters. And that’s why I’m loving these external hard drives.

They’re all custom-built by a company called 8-bit Memory and are available to buy here. I hope they sell millions.

If I ever get married, I don’t want some boring old invite written in calligraphy that is so poorly executed that it actually puts people off coming. Or if they do manage to work out how to RSVP, then they won’t have a snowflake in Hell’s chance of getting there because the directions to the church are as uninformative as an ITV documentary.

Instead, I want one of these – an invite with dashes of humour, romance and a solid narrative. Is that asking too much? I think not.
